i-sha>> Thank you so much for teman-ing me to the registration yesterday. I really appreciate it. Really. And the talk we had at the cafe was so enlightening. Now, how many people can you just sit down with and just continue talking for hours about anything under the sun? We weren't even talking about cute guys. It was all Politics. Wasn't it? *wink*
shahidah>> I had GREAT fun today being all "tai-tai"-ish while everyone else is either at work or school. The Ayam Penyet was really nice...and "30plus" is our secret, you hear me? I can't remember half the things were laughing about the whole day...but i do remember a lot of laughing.

Here's an advice for students who wants to ace the Malay language examination but are lazy to read: (disclaimer: At your own risk.)
Listen more to songs by Indonesian Bands.
During my O level year, i had to sit for a Mock Malay Paper. As usual, there's that section where they provide you with a word and you're supposed to create a sentence with it. Unfortunately, my Malay writing ain't the best around and this section has always been one of my weakest.
I was reading thru the section and one of the words given was "Sejenak". If you listen to Sheila On 7, you'd know that they use this word quite a lot in their songs. I was so excited coz i actually knew what it meant and was able to create a perfect sentence! and, surprise suprise! When we got back that paper, my sentence was the MODEL sentence. Can u believe it?
You can choose to not believe me but, im confident enuff to say that my malay writing skills improved and was very much influenced by the music i was and still is listening too. I think the Indonesian language is a bit more refined. The songs inspired me to be more expressive in my compositions. However, i only got an A2 for my O levels. So if you wanna get an A1, i suggest you do some reading as well. And oh, how can i forget...Lots of practice!!
(If you wanna do well in English, READ. There's no escaping that...READ, READ, READ...it's great coz u get to choose books that YOU like. So get on with it.)
A lot of people say that Indonesian modern music is as good as International standard..which is why you see a lot of them performing in Australia, America, Europe & Japan. And i couldn't agree more. In fact, i think they're at a standard of their own. The music is beautiful & deep. They pay detailed attention to the music arrangement, beautiful orchestration and they're unafraid to be experimental. There's a song for almost everything and the "Love" theme has been potrayed in so many different ways that there's no getting enough of "love". Ok that's it...im getting carried away. I'll continue tomorrow. There's almost no stopping me once i start talking about Indon bands...really.

PDA. public display of affection. u know, i've always told myself to be open-minded. Singaporeans are often too uptight & conservative...so a little PDA is tolerable. HOWEVER, after a particular incident in the train on the way home today, I feel that people who perform PDAs should realize that more often than not, their erm..behaviour tend to make the people around them feel uncomfortable. i mean honestly, what do u expect us to do? Watch? er..no thank you. And it doesn't help AT ALL, that the lighting in MRTs are so damn freaking bright AND that they were hugging & nuzzling each other while leaning on the freaking pole!

i was out with Shidah juz now. Was at her place then we were off to the big Liu Lian, The Esplanade and took a lot of pictures. But hey, we weren't the only ones. There were like two other groups near us also taking pictures non-stop. With digicam obviously. Hail Digicam. So i guess that corner can officially be named "Camera-Whores Corner". Had lots of fun with her...in fact, sometimes i forget that we're cousins. HEY....Shidah....we're cousins!!

I think i'm addicted to Iced Milo. Is that bad?...i think it is, because of high sugar content even tho i barely add any sugar. Seriously tho, i can not eat the whole day and juz have 1 or 2 cups of Iced Milo. Im a freak. I knew it...

Ahmad Dhani, why do you have to be such a fuckin genius?
Why do you have to write such good songs? Wait, they're not even good! Blurgh...they're Stupendously Marvellous. I hate you coz i go head over heels everytime i listen to your music. And you Once (pronounced On-chur; silent r), why do you have such great vocals huh? Why, you tell me! Not only are you a good vocalist....you're also a qualified lawyer?? Damn it.
And people who know me would know that i don't like to praise anything or anyone too much. I hate you Ahmad Dhani, coz u started this band called Dewa. And i hate this band coz they always make me do just that. Praise you non-stop. You think it's fun?? huh? u think i like praising u and keep telling my friends to listen to you? You think it's easy for me to wanna play your Cd over & over again in the morning?? Easier said that done. It's such torture singing along and jumping along to the infectious beats. And it's not just ONE album. you just had to have 7 albums. What have i done to make you do this to me? Why??
I love Dewa. (for the lost ones, Dewa is a renowned Indonesian Band.)

i managed to edit the main image. Sadly tho, it left behind an unsightly patch on the lady's hair. So i decided to place the title of my blog at the exact same spot. and tadaa....what do u get? one post before i try to sleep. I was looking thru some music videos and stumbled upon Foo Fighter's -Times Like These-. i still remember the first time i watched the vid a looonngg time ago in this cab which had tv. However, my fave vid of theirs will always be -Learn to Fly-. it is hilarious to the core and dave still looked young and clean then. you have to check it out....he acted as the lembut cabin crew and the heeeuuggggeee lady who couldnt fit into her seat and this teenage girl who wore braces. i wonder if kurt cobain would succumb to such atrocity if he was still alive and do the same for nirvana. highly doubt it...
Anyway, i put up -Times Like These- video on the blog. Watch it and then say after me, "Dave Grohl is the sexiest man alive." Especially in the -Walking after you- video. Just think about it, not many guys can carry off a moustache as well as him! i guess taylor hawkins (the drummer) realized soonafter that it worked for dave so he grew facial hair too..and SWOoOoOoNNNN!!! ok ok fine, "Dave Grohl & Taylor Hawkins are the sexiest men alive".....for now. Constantine's catching up..
i spose there's just something about guys with facial hair. especially cute guys with the GOATEEE. another swoon...haha. c'mon gurls, there has got to be at least ONCE when a guy caught ur attention bcoz of the sexiness that was oozing out of his erm...goatie. im serious! look at Marcell. Marcell with goatie & Marcell without goatie. which would u prefer?? of course it's gotta be him with the goatie! but hey, not all guys can pull it off. Look at Once, pronounced On-Chur with silent R, of Dewa. He looks awesome all clean and shaved. Now imagine him with facial hair.....AAAAAHHHH!!! ya ampun...so the very not sexy one!

U knoe what? I think this is IT....i can juz feel it. This is THE blog skin. As said by Suhaila, "Fiza, it is so you. Pls don't change it". I thot that was sweet coz i happened to really like this blogskin. Then she juz had to add, "You wanna knoe what i think of Fiza?". She said i was annoying & scary coz i scold ppl a lot. NOT TRUE ok. i may be a little annoying but i do not scold ppl a lot. she's just joking, of course. (u better be!!) coz everyone knows how irritating & scary she is! i was watching Amazing Race juz now...i think dis is one of my fave episodes. If onli Brian & Greg's still in the race! Anyway, in today's leg of the race, Meredith & Grecthen was named the oldest couple to have gone that far in the race!! They were the Fourth to arrive, right before Lynn & Alex who were surprisingly last. Wow im so proud of Meredith & Gretchen..i think they're really sweet & cool. They've been the underdogs yet never gave up even tho' their stuffs got confiscated last time and Meredith had to make do with carrying his stuffs in a garbage bag, and that's after Gretchen fell while in the cave and injured her head and had to continue the race with a bandaged head! You go grandatuk & grand-nenek!! i may not be ur grandcucu but im stil proud of u!
Uchenna & Joyce chose to do the Fast-Forward. After such a long journey, they found out that their task was to get their head shaved! Uchenna was already bald so it was up to Joyce who had thick long hair. I expected her to say no like the Models/Couple group did last season...but she didnt! She said, "Let's do it!". It was so heart-wrenching!...she covered her face and cried & her husband kept saying "i'm sorry". lucky for her tho', she looks nice bald. i guess its coz she's african-american. What people will do for money, huh? nonetheless, im impressed by her gung-ho-ness (got such word or not)...ok her enthusiasm and spontaneity, unlike that couple in the last season. Go joyce! Finally Rob & Amber are not in the first place. They were Third. HAH.
And then before amazing race, there was Eye for a Guy 2. it's so much better than the first season with that cinonet (pronounced: chee-no-net) gurl. so tak lawa. mcm lah fiza tu lawa sgt BUT as a viewer it is my obligation to also be critic. i didnt watch it at all lah but it was obviously a flop! EFAG 2 is far better. Better gurl, and better guys. At first i thot Shan was the best lookin...but by then of the show, i liked Howard the best coz of his personality. Surprise...so did Denise. if i could vote off 2, i'd vote off Jeff (cocky tak kenal tempat) & james (tak kenal tempat). james was so WEIRD!! like....hello are you okay? it was obvious then that they put him in the show as a joke. no wonder he was rated no.10 out of the 10 guys. and it was so funny when that one guy tried to impress Denise Keller and said he listens to Depeche Mode..but he pronounced it wrongly...Dee-pah-chee. HAHAHAHA. watever lah.
Anyway, checked out other ppl's blogs and i think mine is so under par. I'd say it's due to lack of experience. I wrote my first official post in January 2005! (check out Archives.) it's probably gonna be worse when i start school.
Goin out with Shahidah tomorrow, i knoe im supposed to go sumwhere on Friday but it's currently not in remembrance, then Shidah on Saturday.
i have nothing to wear.................................

Can you believe it? It's going to be the end of April..and then it's goodbye April and Hello May. That's incredibly fast! I still have some leftover New Year's spirit in me that makes me wanna pop up to an unsuspecting stranger down bukit batok and go "Happy New Year!!!" and spray those ribbon thingy. And i still have the biggest urge to scream "Happy New Year!!" at the top of my lungs when i hear somebody counting down...Like say, an aerobics instructor:
"Now to your left.....6..5..4..3..2 and..1..."
ME: HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
hey..maybe i should try it out and see the various reactions..haha. man i missed April Fool's Day!
Anyway, if u've been checking out my blog the past week (i highly doubt it)...u'll realize how many umpteen times i changed my blogskins and the links. Im juz gonna stick to this one for now coz its the closest i can find to "not bad". I have a problem tho..im no blog expert so im pretty clueless with all these HTML & links (im practically immune to them). To my friends who are reading this , i'll be starting school on 20th June. i thot i'd juz type it here so i dun have to repeat it each time i bump into sumone. I'm goin to Clementi Ite. yeah, SURPRISE! im going to Ite. i have to say its a very tough decision to make. It took me a year! I'm glad i made it, though. I have been getting quite a number of weird if not negative responses from some people.
Person: hey Fiza, so what are you doin now?
fiza: i'll be going to Clementi Ite.
Person A: (trying really hard not to let mouth drop open to the floor and settled for "a little
shocked" but still remained cool) Really? How come? Do you really not have other
options? Are you sure you wanna do this? But why? You can go poly what...eh i
heard that school got a lot of Minahs u knoe....
Person B: (silence......) Oh. (silence....)That's cool. (silence....) ok...good luck.
Person C: WHAATTT????? Are you crazy??? You want to go ITE??? WHY????
Of course i also get very encouraging responses. And i really appreciate it. My family have been very supportive from the start. I've talked to my close friends about this over & over again. The only reason why a lot of us think that ITE is a so-called "bad" place to go is because when we were in Secondary school, being in the 2nd Express class meant that we were supposed to aim to continue our studies in JC or Polytechnics, which was what most did of course. So the teachers would go, "Class, if you pass your O levels, you can go to the JC or Poly of your choice. But if you fail badly then the only choice you have is (with ominous background music...jeng jeng jeng) ITE!"
You see? Ite was pretty much a taboo issue. Nobody speaks of it unless they're threatening someone who's not working hard for their Os. That also explains why i knoe NUTS about life in ITE. I hav friends who failed their Os but would never go to ITE no matter what. I got the hint that it's coz its gonna affect their reputation and "social status". You knoe....those uppetty people with noses higher than the sky? yeah..well, if ur so good you wouldnt have failed ur Os in the first place. and as for the mat & minah issue. well...lets juz say im keeping my mind open. They're still human after all. Even though a lot of my frens voiced their worries for me "Fiza, what if u turn into a minah"...haha. I heard somewhere that Clementi Ite's reportedly known as a "Chic Heaven". Fiza, get ready to be an outcast :)
For your information, i did NOT fail my Os. i admit im not the most studious in my class where people dun care whether u pass or not, but it was how many distinctions you got that matters. However, i did lack a credit. And so the courses offered to me were the ones i weren't interested in. So instead i took up Hairstyling!! i went to a hairstyling school in town for about 6 mnths. It was also like a salon so we got customers to practise on. mainly tai tais & expats...imagine the tips we got! ooh yeah! i got to go to posh seminars, fashion show, schmooze with who's who.
