Today had been rather interesting. i was supposed to meet up with my sister's friends from Brunei at Paya Lebar and catch BhumiBand at the Konsert Hanyut. The thing is after the concert she wants me to go my way and so she can go off with the Bruneians. So i asked some friends out but most of 'em cant make it coz
a) gotta study for exams
b) outta town
c)parents not too happy bout them goin out in the evening
d)yadayadayada.
When im not free, so many people ask me out....but when i ask them out, no one seems to be free. Isn't it ironic.
So let's see, Shidah had to babysit at the last min. Suhaila, parents. And then i asked Aini, who then told me she's goin to JB with Helmi and wants to gimme tix to the Fashion Fest @ The Tent on the same day. Great! Not only is everyone too busy to go out with me, i now have tix to go to see a fashion show AND no one to go with. But hey lucky me, Kak Sarah msged me in time and told me that she could make it. It's cool coz we're both in fashion and stuff. (She can be a model herself, if not for the fact that we both talk alot and are very down-to-earth...i wouldn't have dreamed of asking her coz its gonna make me feel super self-conscious.)
So, yay! Im goin to the fashion show after all! What to wear? Gosh i dun even wanna think about it....even tho i felt good about what i was wearing. i still felt that Chinoiserie was kinda passe. i was juz afraid that sumone might come up to me and say "Chinese New Year is over, dah-ling..." But i wore it anyway right? the eff with what people think.
So i was all dressed up, met Aini to pick up tix, went to Paya Lebar to meet my sis. And then rushed off to Ngee Ann City to meet up with Kak Sarah who was late! The fashion show started at 6 but we got into The Tent at bout 6.30. So we got to catch FCUK but missed Versus. After that we left the Tent and decided to go somewhere to grab a bite. While walking slowly to Pacific Plaza, we saw the frontman of Disagree (the Malaysian band that did Crumbs)...Kak Sarah suggested taking a picture with him coz i brought my DigiCam but we were pretty hesitant. Yadayadayada....the guy's probably a mile away by then.
The rest of the night was all talk & shop..and more talk & shop. Tired & sleepy....home sweet home.

Dewa: Atas Nama Cinta 2005 (Singapore)
I have never been so awestruck in my whole life. (or have i?)
I've so much to say about this "singapore-history-textbook"-worthy day but i'll talk about the concert first.
When the gates were finally opened, I was the FIRST person to step into the Fort Canning Park. I proudly made my way to the VIP enclosed section and strutted straight to the front. I was right in front of the stage (behind the barrier)...juz me alone and the stage. My heart pounded like mad...this is it, I 'm goin to see, listen, feel & witness DEWA live right in front of my eyes...LITERALLY. WOW.
Then the other fans started coming in and killed the moment. HAH. btw..it was super humid and cloudy. In the meanwhile the three of us, my sis, me & suhaily sat down...conserving our energy for later. Sarah Sechan then came on to hype up the crowd by gettin ppl to ans qns to win free tshirts. Fyi, i won one. Cool Dewa tshirt...
Later this local band called Aegyptie came on. Didn't really know who they were but they were not bad. We were standing right in front and there were these huge speakers lined-up in front of the stage and the music was super loud so u can imagine how my eardrums were crying out for help. The crowd - lackadaisical.
Then came Bhumi band...only one thing to say, super irritating back-up singers. Crowd a little hyped up...also kinda pissed coz DEWA not out yet..
And then...the moment we've been waiting for! The magnifcent DEWA finally came on stage.WOW! They walked humbly up on to the stage...AHMAD DHANI...ANDRA....YUKE....TYO...and ONCE!
Their first song was Roman Picisan which is a beautiful song.
Blew me away. After i sang along of course :)
Then one song, and another.....all literally rocked my mind.
I dunno which song i enjoyed the most coz i loved them all...like

Satu
Dua Sejoli
Separuh Nafas
Angin
Pupus
Kosong
and of course
PANGERAN CINTA!
That one swept me off my feet..I had a fabulous time. Did i mention that it rained?...Twice? And that this was an outdoor gig? Go figure :)
The finale song was Arjuna after which the whole band line-up in front of the stage and bowed. Wow.
ill remember this day forever. i've never been so awestruck by anyone. I've never actually come upon someone i m highly impressed by......Ahmad Dhani.
He started the band in 1986 after which they changed names, the music they played, the members. Yet after much perseverance & determination..he is now highly recognized for his music. And he's now a very successful millionare in Indonesia with a gorgeous wife & three adorable kids. Not forgetting he wrote almost all the songs not only for Dewa 's 7 albums but other artistes as well. Ahmad Dhani...you're worth my every WOW.
And not forgetting that their vocalist, Once (pronounced On-Chur) was actually a lawyer who decided to join Dewa as a vocalist instead and will be setting up his own law firm.
